Great Eastern Railway Re-electrification Project
The Great Eastern Railway Overhead Line Renewal is between London Liverpool Street and Chelmsford (approx. 100 track miles).
This comprises an extremely technically challenging programme of works due to the complexity of the existing infrastructure and interface with the operational railway. In total, 345 wire runs and associated structures for a new auto tensioned overhead line system are to be installed.
CPMS has successfully supplied the client with a full project delivery solution; including programme, project delivery, planning, document control, engineering, procurement and commercial management services. It has also developed and successfully discharged a Principal Contractor competency on behalf of the client.
A culture of 'safety first' has been embedded on the project along with the implementation of a full suite of project controls; including schedule adherence, unit cost modelling and KPI reporting metrics.
To date, the delivery solution provided by CPMS has generated efficiencies of 25% for the client.
Health & Safety
CPMS has instigated a step change in the safety performance of the GE project. Starting with a focus on getting the basics right through to seeking new and innovative ways to deliver the works in a safer, more efficient manner. CPMS has worked hard with the supply chain and site operatives to understand and improve how the project is delivered.
CPMS has also introduced a suite of initiatives including:
• Interactive Safety Stand downs
• Core ISOH training to members of the team
• Introduction and testing of new safety equipment
• Health surveillance processes
• Improving working conditions by introducing new air fed masks and revised burning equipment.
All of these measures have been successfully implemented to bring safety to the forefront in the decision making process during project delivery.
CPMS has designed and fabricated a revised combination welfare unit for the project, offering better and more efficient facilities for the workforce.
Through a new and very targeted safety campaign, CPMS has increased the volume of Close Call reporting on the GE project by over 300%.
I am writing on behalf of Greater Anglia to commend the progress made within the last 12 months on the complex works to replace the fixed tension OLE between Liverpool Street and Chelmsford...we have noted real progress since last summer… It seems that a much more sensible approach is now being taken in all areas... I wish you all every success in the completion of this project and the many future works on the Anglia Network.
