CPMS shortlisted for Best Electrification Award
28 January 2016
The technically challenging project to replace 320km of overhead wire over 30 miles of railway – the high profile stretch from Chelmsford to London Liverpool Street – was successfully recovered by CPMS without delaying a single passenger train or freight service.
An even greater feat when you take into account the history of the project, originally started in 2007, by 2013 (a year after the original completion deadline) the project had failed to reach its half way point.
Numerous major contractors had attempted and failed to deliver. CPMS took a strategically different approach. In the past each individual wire run was planned in isolation. CPMS adopted a holistic approach to planning by integrating planning, design, possession management and installation. Re-framing delivery incentives from short term goals based on individual packages of work to major completion milestones also helped change the mind-set of the team and ensure successful delivery.
Mat Baine, CPMS, Managing Director said:
"CPMS stands for Collaborative Project Management Services. Our name encapsulates our approach to delivering major projects; we use our broad expertise to simplify complex projects into deliverable milestones."
"I've been in the industry for over 25 years and have met some remarkable and dedicated people who thoroughly understand and care for the railway. When I decided to set up my own company I knew who to call, their skills and knowledge combined with our ability to do things differently has ensured the successful delivery of all of our projects. Our track record demonstrates that we're able to translate our ethos into successful projects, from the very beginning of design, through to delivery."
Roy Rowlands, UK Rail Industry Awards, Business Development Director said:
"CPMS played an integral part in the recovery of the Great Eastern electrification project, they integrated seamlessly with Network Rail and the wider supply chain to turnaround this historically problematic project. With a can do attitude and extensive experience under their belt this relatively new company is certainly one to watch."
